Sandblasting the bonnet has been going well. I am using a simple air suction sandblast gun. The material i am using is a fine glass bead, which allows me to remove material including the paint but is not removing the primer.
While sandblasting, i do spend time removing major grim with a scraper. The bonnet is constucted out of several pieces which a bolted together. Removing the tar and grim from the bolts and washers proved difficult. My solution is to sandblast the bolts enough to get a socket on them and then i remove them one at a time, wire brush them, and then i sandblast the surounding area.
At this time i have only found one small area of rust which i will grind out and replace with new material.
Removing the hinges, i found one bolt snaped of which i will have to remove the bolt. I will show progress
