With help from Arno, I was able to reinstall the bonnet on Saturday. By Tuesday the few problem areas on the flat surface infront of the bonnet vents have been filled and smothed out. The jag is now in the garage ready to have the tires removed and the filler primer will be sprayed on in the next few days. The jag will not see sun untill the paint is laid down.
My plan is to spray 3-5 coats of filler primer, before the single stage paint will be sprayed. The filler primer allows for small imperfections to be found and sanded out. A guide coat allows high and low spots in the filler to be sanded out.
The paint is applied using a HVLP gun,(High Volume Low Presure) which reduces the the paint which is left floating in the air. I do use a good quality paint mask. 3-4 coats of the single stage PPG Acrylic Laqure paint. the intention is to wet sand the final paint coat and buff to a deep shine..........
